Android & iOS apps — Workable · 2022
Recruiters can now post jobs from their phone, a first for Workable.
End-to-end job post creation, editing and publishing on iOS and Android, previously desktop-only.

Problem
Recruiters don’t sit at a desk all day, but creating and editing job posts was desktop-only.
Users had been asking for mobile access for a long time.
Role & team
I joined in January 2022 as the dedicated product designer for the native iOS and Android apps.
I worked in a product squad and owned the whole mobile flow, adapting the existing desktop flow end to end.
Approach
- Break down the desktop flowI started by going through the existing desktop flow step by step: every field, every rule and every dependency between them. I needed to understand what the flow really asks of a recruiter before deciding what to keep, merge or move.
- Think about the mobile contextI looked at what changes on a phone: a small screen, one hand, a keyboard covering half of it, and short moments between other tasks. I listed the problems and needs a recruiter would have there, and checked each desktop step against them.
- Design for editing firstI expected recruiters to edit existing posts on their phone more often than to write new ones from scratch. So editing became the everyday case: quick changes to a single section, without walking through the whole flow again. Creation stayed complete, but never at the expense of editing.
- Test with real users20 users took unmoderated usability tests on UserTesting.com. The findings were fine, with no major problems.
Challenge
Translating a form-heavy desktop workflow into a native mobile experience without losing functionality or overwhelming someone in the middle of their day, inside an established design system that had to be respected, not reinvented.
Solution
The full desktop capability (title, description, requirements, screening questions) rebuilt for native mobile.
Every interaction is designed for speed and clarity, since recruiters use it in moments between other tasks.
